And My Name Is . . .
Welcome to my little corner of the web! My name is Anne, and I'm a mom of four amazing adult children. I just turned 60 near the end of 2024, and after years of navigating the ups and downs of family life, I've decided it’s time to share what I've discovered about saving money. This blog is my invitation to you—a place where we can break down the often overwhelming world of personal finance into manageable, bite-sized tips.
I know that things can seem especially tough these days. Between soaring home prices, food prices, and juggling those relentless loans and bills, it often feels like we're all just trying to keep our heads above water. I'm here to remind you that even small changes can lead to big improvements in how you manage your money.
I know my own kids, who range in age from 33 to 29, have lamented that they will never own their own home. The future is not as easy as my generation, where we were able to come out of school, find a job right away and start saving for our home. My generation, the boomers, had it pretty easy when I look back to save for and actually purchase a home. It’s so different with my kids’ generation. Not to mention that kids are staying longer at home (I have my two oldest still living at home, and the two youngest are paying rent). I’ve heard from others on social media and from friends that their kids married and moved out, only to return to their parent’s home with their own kids in tow.
I certainly don’t have all the answers, and I’m not a financial expert. I do know what my husband and I did to save money, pay off our mortgage, and save to help out our kids now. I believe in the power of community and shared wisdom. I encourage you to comment, share your tips and tricks, and let’s learn from each other. Whether you're a seasoned saver or just starting to explore new ways to stretch your dollars further, your experiences matter. Together, we can build a supportive space where every little bit of advice adds to a brighter financial future.
Thank you for joining me on this journey. I’m excited to connect with you, exchange ideas, and discover new ways to make life a little easier and a lot more rewarding—one small step at a time. Please note, however, that you should contact a professional financial advisor if you need professional financial advice. This blog does not provide professional financial advice.
Quick Tip:
Use your digital or paper calendar to set recurring reminders for each bill's due date. This way, you'll get an alert a few days in advance, giving you plenty of time to prepare or make payments. Additionally, keep a dedicated folder—either on your computer, in the cloud, or in a filing cabinet—for all your invoices. This simple system helps ensure you never miss a payment and always know where to find your records.
